CEREC's 20th birthday celebrations under the banner of 20YC commenced early in 2006 with a huge event in Berlin and will conclude later this year with another party in Las Vegas. In between however, the magnificent Hyatt Regency Coolum on Queensland's Sunshine Coast became CEREC Central for three days in June.
Some 150 CEREC aficionados representing a good cross section of surgery and lab users from Australia and New Zealand enjoyed an eclectic mix of education and entertainment, perfectly situated in a bushland environment.
"The event was a huge success," said Quentin Daniels, Laboratory CAD/CAM Manager for Sirona Dental Systems. "We had a good turnout of inLab owners who travelled from across the country and over from New Zealand to participate."
Legendary US ceramist Lee Culp was one of the keynote speakers who is known for both being the founding ceramist at LVI and more recently as the author of his own crown database for the CEREC.
"We conducted a mix of lectures, handson software training and hands-on materials workshops and all were received very well," he said.
"A number of new products for CEREC users were launched including Merz's new imCrown acrylic blocks for temporaries as well as the new version R2.8 of the CEREC 3D software. We also previewed the R2.9 version of the inLab software due for release in September."
Participants enjoyed world class accommodation plus a championship golf course. A gala dinner on the Saturday night of the event was a further highlight.
"The CEREC method of dentistry is 20 years old this year and the perfect way to celebrate was to spend it with those who have made it such a success."
