The second annual Digital Dentistry and Dental Technology conference has been another outstanding success, attracting 476 delegates to the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach over two days on September 20 and 21, 2019.
"As the organiser of the event, I am truly heartened by the patronage Digital Dentistry and Dental Technology is being given by the dental profession," said Dentevents' Joseph Allbeury. "When we launched the event last year, it was a different concept to anything that had been tried before and it took a little convincing to get people to participate. Having said that, we attracted almost 300 delegates which was above expectations. Once delegates and speakers and sponsors and exhibitors experienced that first event, the concept was proven and now it's a matter of how to make it even better each year.
"We continue to evolve the program and each time it runs, we're looking at how delegates respond, what was a hit and what was a miss. This year, for example, we offered 16 limited attendance hands-on workshops for the first time. All of these were fully subscribed. So for 2020, we will look at how to expand on this because there is obvious demand."
Digital Dentistry and Dental Technology has quickly grown to be the largest dental education event in Australia in terms of content. In 2019, the event offered delegates the choice of 110 sessions delivered by 52 speakers totalling 96 hours of education.
"Digital Dentistry is a broad topic affecting almost every aspect of clinical and technical dentistry, so the event allows you to create your own program based on your own specific needs. If you just want to hear about 3D printing, you can, if you just want to hear about implants, you can and so on. And if you want to hear about several different aspects of digital dentistry, you can too.
"I believe that one of the reasons the event is successful is because delegates come along and think. You cannot just sit in one room all day and take it as it comes. You have to study the program and move around. And because you don't need to pre-register for the sessions, your choices will continually change as you're talking to your friends and colleagues and the speakers and being guided in how to find what you're looking for."
Digital Dentistry and Dental Technology 2019 welcomed speakers from across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, Europe, the UK and the Americas, bringing with them a wealth of knowledge and experience. From clinicians and technicians, inventors, product and software developers, the opportunity to learn was unique.
"The support we're now receiving for Digital Dentistry and Dental Technology continues to grow," Mr Allbeury said. "This year, we had 52 world class speakers on stage sharing their knowledge and experience in the digital world. They were all amazing and all were selected because they're leaders in their fields and have unique perspectives on the digital space.
"Equally, I must thank our sponsors and industry supporters who have continued to support Digital Dentistry and Dental Technology in so many ways and at so many different levels. Dentsply Sirona, Ivoclar Vivadent, Dental Axess, Fabdent and Innovatio Dental/Amann Girrbach were paramount to the success of the event, as were the 40-odd companies that exhibited.
"Thank you too, to everyone who helped me and my team stage this event. It was an amazing event made possible by an amazing group of people. Thank you!"
