Dry milling hybrid ceramic blocks in HD

Amann Girrbach has extended Ceramill CAD/CAM systems to include dry milling of hybrid ceramic blocks. Dry milling can be completed in all Ceramill Motion systems as well as Ceramill Mikro and is implemented using highly precise HD milling strategies. The finest fissures and morphological detail definition can thus be realised directly on the machine without manual reworking.

This establishes two methods for processing ceramic-reinforced composite blocks in the future for customers with a Ceramill Motion 2 with the wet grinding function. Milling strategies, specially developed for dry processing and four new diamond-coated cutters ensure highly precise milling. The "Roto DMB CC" Ceramill CAD/CAM cutter is available in diameters 2.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 0.6 mm and 0.3 mm.

Only an adapter for the standard Ceramill material size 71 blank holder is required. Equipped with three sockets, the adapter is screwed into the size 71 blank holder and then operated as usual. An additional adapter is required for CEREC® blocks.

Amann Girrbach has approved the Shofu block HC (with AG holder), GC CERASMART® and Yamakin KZR-CAD HR2 block (both with CEREC holder) in a first stage for dry processing. Other materials are undergoing validation.
