The newly released OrthoScan orthodontic scanning and digital model system has recently been installed in Sydney and Melbourne in Australia and in Dunedin New Zealand. All of the early adopters are thoroughly impressed with the functionality and ease of use of the system.
"The system is perfectly suited to the direction we wish to go in," said Sid Tass from TDL Precision Orthodontics. "All our customers are welcoming the new technology and although we have had the system only a short time, the staff are well versed on its operation. It's designed well therefore very easy to use and I believe a great investment in our laboratory's future."
The OrthoScan A20 scanner is the world's first dedicated orthodontic scanner and paired with the OrthoStudio software, is the best way to produce professional digital models. These models can be then manipulated in various ways making model diagnosis a breeze. The models can subsequently be reconstituted at any time in the future using any compatible 3D printer.
John Preddy from The Lab in Dunedin New Zealand said
"I'd been looking at producing digital models for some time but the cost was always prohibitive. Now with the affordable OrthoScan system we can offer the latest technology to our customers at a very competitive price. The interest has been fantastic and in this economic climate, anything that raises the bar and makes you more competitive is good by me."
For the first time the production of digital models is now accessible to any lab regardless of the size. The unit is light and portable and works with any modern fast computer with a suitable graphics card.
"We knew it was time to invest in a digital model system but it's always hard when investing in new technology, you have to go with the right people," said Charlie Sara from Macono Orthodontic Laboratory in Sydney. "Truline Dental, the distributer has offered nothing but great support and training and we are really happy with the way things are going. Software support from the parent company Maestro 3D has also been tremendous with any small bugs being fixed very quickly. We love it."
Apart from new software updates being regularly released for OrthoScan, Maestro 3D have now released a new model viewer application for Apple's popular iPAD. To purchase, simply connect to the iTunes Store on your iPAD and search for Maestro 3D iPad Viewer.
