Lava™ Plus High Translucency Zirconia now available in discs for open milling

3M ESPE Dental is making its zirconia system an option for most dental labs and milling systems in Australia and New Zealand.

Lava is widely acknowledged as the trusted brand that built the market for zirconia restorations through the Lava Milling Center network. Now after 13 years of clinical use and millions of cases worldwide, 3M ESPE Dental makes its complete system for high translucency zirconia restorations, including its patented shading liquids, available for open-source milling.

The 98mm diameter Lava Plus zirconia discs are now available in three thicknesses: 14mm, 18mm and 25mm. The zirconia discs are also available in two popular formats - with and without a step - and are based on the same material technology as the Mill Blank (frame) formats for Lava Milling Systems. With this foundation, Lava Plus Discs and Lava Plus Mill Blanks offer the reliability and high performance for which the Lava brand is renowned.

Labs can also access 3M ESPE Dental's patented shading system developed specifically for Lava Plus High Translucency Zirconia to provide a consistent and predictable shade match and therefore reduce remakes. With this patented system, technicians can be confident that an A2 is an A2 - today and tomorrow. The system offers a wide range of dyeing liquids with 18 shades for a consistent match to the VITA classical A1 - D4 shade guide (VITA Zahnfabrik) and two additional bleach shades. Two shading options - dip shading and natural gradient shading - give labs flexibility and total control of the aesthetic level.

Monochrome dip shading

All-zirconia restorations and frameworks can be produced with monochrome dip shading, a fast and easy 2-minute process (Refer to instructions for use) in which the shading liquid is evenly and completely absorbed throughout the zirconia. This means dentists receive an aesthetic restoration and if an adjustment is needed, the bur will not create a white spot since the colour is embedded throughout the restoration.

Natural gradient shading

For artisan aesthetics, labs can also use Lava Plus High Translucency Zirconia and the associated shading system, including new enamel liquids, to replicate the look of a hand-layered or veneered restoration in an all-zirconia restoration.

All-zirconia restorations, copings, frameworks

In addition to all-zirconia restorations, Lava Plus High Translucency Zirconia from 3M ESPE Dental can be used as a coping or framework for layered restorations and is compatible with dedicated zirconia veneering porcelains.
