Posterior teeth for the lingualized occlusion

The distinctive SR Vivodent S DCL anterior teeth and the SR Orthotyp S DCL posterior teeth were introduced two years ago by Ivoclar Vivadent.

They offer exceptional individuality in partial and complete denture prosthetics in A-D and Bleach shades. Now, an additional range of posterior teeth has been launched - especially for the lingualized occlusal scheme: SR Ortholingual S DCL. The tooth moulds of SR Ortholingual S DCL incorporate the main principles of lingualized occlusion according to Möser-Pistill. The centric contacts with the upper palatal cusps are centred in the fossae of the lower teeth. The buccal cusps are set up out of contact with each other. In denture teeth for the lingual contact occlusion, the forces of occlusion are usually transferred lingual to the mandibular ridge. As a result, they are often the denture teeth of choice for implant-supported restorations. As is the case with the SR Vivodent S DCL anterior teeth and the established SR Orthotyp S DCL posterior teeth, the new posterior teeth are composed of highly cross-linked DCL acrylic (Double Cross Linked). This is a modified polymethyl methacrylate variant in which the polymer and the matrix are equally cross linked. Compared with conventional PMMA, the DCL material shows similar flexibility but much higher compressive strength. As a result, a longer lifespan of complete dentures can be expected. Furthermore, the DCL acrylic shows an excellent bond to denture base materials.
