Ceramic stains play an important role and are traditionally used as a finishing touch to complete ceramic restorations or characterizations for crowns, veneers and pressable ceramics. The Cercon Stain Kit from DeguDent now offers a complete line, specially for zirconia restorations. The newly developed staining materials are important for the characterization of full anatomical works, which has traditionally proven to be quite a challenge.
Full contour, unveneered zirconia restorations evolved to an exciting new level with the release of Cercon ht in September. Cercon ht has a lower abrasion on the opposing tooth in comparison to traditional veneering ceramic and lithium disilicate. The same result was found even when the materials were inserted and re-polished after adjustments made by dentists. Thanks to its proven documented safety, Cercon ht can be recommended for full anatomical restorations of posterior teeth.
But full anatomical restorations made of zirconia have a challenging side for technicians as well. The surface of zirconia has a different texture than the well known layering ceramic. Commonly recommended staining materials often reach their limits very quickly. However, the new Cercon stains have the same handling behavior as commonly used stains due to a very fine microstructure of the powders and glaze materials, allowing technicians to work far more precisely.
