The Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation (FOR) is an independent organisation based in Lucerne, Switzerland, established 7 years ago to pursue a united mission to improve the quality of treatment available to oral healthcare providers via their on-line learning resource centre.
FOR is led by an international Board of Trustees of renowned clinicians and scholars, with Dr Jay P. Malmquist as the Chairman and Prof. Dr Charles Goodacre as the Editor-in-Chief. FOR recognise that the site presently has limited educational content specifically targeted to the increasing variety and complexity of prosthetic solutions undertaken by Dental Technicians. Mr Fred Latham, a well-known Dental Technician based in Sydney and in the Southern Highlands of NSW has accepted a consultant role at the Foundation for Oral Rehabilitation as “Expert and Content Advisor”.
As well as over 20 years as visiting Technical Lecturer at Sydney University’s Diploma in Oral Implants, he is arguably one the most experienced dental technicians in the field of Dental Implant and CADCAM orientated prosthetic solutions. At FOR, his responsibilities include acquiring, producing, optimising, reviewing and managing educational content such as treatment and lab procedure documentation. In the coming months FOR will be looking for submissions that focus on all-ceramics solutions, particularly those with detailed prosthetic design rationale and laboratory procedures.
Mr Latham’s responsibilities at FOR will include providing assistance to potential authors in their preparation of articles prior to submission for review by the editorial board. Mr Latham welcomes enquiries from all members of the Restorative team, especially Dental Technicians, who are eager to showcase their results, thought processes and techniques on FOR’s internet-based educational platform.
