Osteon Medical launches all new Bi-axial Implant Bridge

By Michael Tuckman

New Products

The fruits of a major research and development project embarked upon in 2012 by Osteon Medical, one of Australia's leading providers of comprehensive CAD/CAM implant solutions, have now been brought to market with the launch of the Bi-axial Implant Bridge.

The Bi-axial Implant Bridge is a uniquely designed and patented precision manufactured implant bridge with the unique ability to redirect screw access channels by up to 30 degrees. Angled screw channels allow for optimal positioning of the implant frames to be produced without the need for expensive abutments, making it both financially and aesthetically more attractive.

"The introduction of the Bi-axial range of products is an important and welcome addition to our existing product offerings," said Osteon Medical Director, Mr Michael Tuckman. "Osteon is committed to providing customers with solutions and services that bring increased simplicity and efficiency to patient-specific solutions. The Biaxial range of products is another step in that direction."

The Bi-axial Implant Bridge is currently available in Titanium, CoCr (suitable for porcelain bonding) and PMMA. New materials including biocompatible zirconia in five shades and a new translucent zirconia will be available in Q1, 2014.

The Bi-axial range of products have precision fit and are produced in accordance with the latest CAD/CAM milling technology. All products are made in Australia and backed by a comprehensive lifetime warranty for titanium and CoCr. In addition, if an implant supplier does not honour their warranty due to the use of an Osteon implant bridge, Osteon Medical will cover the warranty for both the bridge and the implant placed.

"This product introduction streamlines the internal procedures for laboratories, providing an efficient and cost-effective solution by eliminating the use of multi-unit abutments or time spent on modification of custom abutments. It also simplifies and reduces insertion times for clinicians, without compromise," he said.

The all new Bi-axial Implant Bridge from Osteon Medical is available for most major implant platforms including Astratech/Dentsply Implants; Ankylos; Biomet 3i; Bio Horizons; MIS: Nobel Biocare; Neoss; Osstem; Southern Implants; Straumann; Swiss Plus and Zimmer.

Ordering a Bi-axial Implant Bridge

The Biaxial range of products can be ordered by any of 3 simple methods:

  1. The laboratory can produce a copy-mill resin pattern of the bridge design and send this together with the implant model to Osteon's production facility in Melbourne.
  2. A final tooth position together with implant model can be sent to Osteon for internal design. In this case, a 3D file will be sent to the client by email for review and approval prior to production.
  3. Labs with an open scanner can design the bridge and send the files directly to Osteon where a team member will redirect the screw channels and send a 3D email to confirm access hole positions prior to production.
